Pizza places in the United States run from a counter with two stools and a stack of boxes to a full sit-down pizzeria with a bar, and most neighborhood shops do all three things at once: dine-in, takeout and delivery. Ordering by phone is still common and often faster than an app, and many independents charge less when you call direct because there is no platform fee. Sizes are usually listed in inches (a small around 10", a large 14", an extra-large 16" or more), and a large feeds two to three adults. Slices are sold from a display case at New York-style counters and reheated to order; whole pies take 15-25 minutes at a busy shop. Most spots take cards and mobile pay, though a few older pizzerias remain cash-only, so check the door or the listing before you order.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 4β10 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (201) 544-5199. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, pizzaporta.com.

Jersey City is in New Jersey, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Jersey City follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Went because the reviews seemed good enough. Waited a while βto be seatedβ. I got photos from the entrance attached. Sat long enough before leaving as nobody approached us at all. Seems like they are understaffed because we wanted to sit outside obviously, and he said thereβs no staff serving there. Sir your country is hosting the World Cupβ¦ why wouldnβt you be preparedβ¦ we drove from our hotel in SoHo for that.

We had our wedding rehearsal dinner at Porta, and could not have been more happy with how everything turned out! The food is absolutely phenomenal, with plenty of delicious options! Our event took place on the south side of the rooftop, and the ambiance was *chef's kiss* perfection. A gorgeous sunset backdrop, rustic pizza ovens, and the option for heated lamps as the night got chilly β it really felt so cozy. Samantha was so responsive and helpful to work with leading up to the event, and the staff on the day of was friendly and efficient! This will for sure not be our last visit to our new favorite pizza spot (:

π PREDATORY BREAD PRACTICES π The food here is exceptionally tasty. The servers are nice. But that's secondary to the bread situation, which is so clearly engineered to screw over the customer that I can't help but feel like I'm getting scammed when eating here. Let me elaborate. In this post-Covid world, I understand some restaurants charge for bread service. I understand Porta needs to make its Newark Ave rent. But why am I paying $4 for five small slices of dry bread? That's 80 cents per sad, pathetic slice. Other places that charge for bread make it an event. They make it luxurious. This bread is a slap in the face. The clear solution is to just not order bread. But no, the menu is designed so that you need bread. Want mozzarella? Ricotta? Well, if you want bread with it, that'll be $2 extra. Never mind that when I asked our poor server how one would go about eating these dishes without bread, they admitted it wasn't really possible. And then, to add insult to injury, you get a lion's share of cheese and AGAIN five paltry pieces of prison-grade bread, which is NOT proportionate to the amount of cheese you've been given, which means, again, guess what? You've got to order mor

Love the vibe at Porta. They have a great menu and a good selection of beers. Their pizzas are so tasty and our favorite is the carbonara pizza. Thank you Alison for your helpful and friendly hospitality!
